How many days do I need for a desert tour from Marrakech?
For a first taste, 2 days is enough: Zagora is around 7 hours by road from Marrakech, usually with a stop at Ait Benhaddou on the way. For the tall dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), plan at least 3 days, as the drive is closer to 9 or 10 hours.
Zagora or Merzouga: which desert should I choose?

When is the best time to visit the Moroccan desert?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring warm days and cool nights. Winter is sunny, but desert nights can drop close to freezing, and summer afternoons are very hot.
